No worldwide universal standards exist for organic food production so many countries have established their own national standards. These differences are the result of both consumer behaviour and production practices. However, the egg market is very different in different regions. Asia, especially China and India, now dominates global egg production while Europe and North America have both lost importance as egg production regions.Ĭonsumer interest in purchasing free-range and organic eggs has increased, which consequently has led to increased production and market shares during the last 20-30 years. This growth is, however, very different worldwide.
